SIR WALTER RALEIGH’S
PLUSH MUSIC FESTIVAL
Thursday 12 September-Sunday 15 September
Over the past 23 years Plush Festival has evolved from a concert for friends into a thriving concert series produced by the Alfred Brendel family and supported by the local community, “a harmonious and high quality collaboration of composers, musicians, chefs, piano tuners, page turners, flower arrangers, landscapers, photographers, designers, editors, proof readers, printers…the musicianship is uniformly excellent…with its idyllic setting and informal warmth, it’s a sharp contrast to metropolitan concert halls.” We attend three superb concerts; study days include lectures on the colourful life and literature of Sir Walter Raleigh; a private visit to his Sherborne Castle, and visits to his beloved Sherborne Abbey and Old Palace; dinners in the Brace of Pheasants, one of the most famous pubs in southern England.
