To have seen Italy without having seen Sicily is to not have seen Italy at all, for in Sicily is the key to everything. 13 April 1787, Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe.

Goethe’s late 18c Sicilian quest seeking deepened understanding of the origins of western civilisation becomes our mission in the 21c, though we fly rather than sail! While enjoying Epicurean delights, architectural inspiration, and a natural beauty and care only a private chateau surrounded by vineyards can provide, Nicholas Friend and Lucy Walker lecture each morning before conducting rich excursions to the beautifully preserved temples of Agrigento, to Morgantina, the last Sicilian town to be conquered by the Romans, to Piazza Armerina whose Villa Romana del Casale contains UNESCO-protected mosaics, the finest mosaics in situ anywhere in the Roman world, to Aristotle’s  Syracuse, and  to the amazing Baroque cities of  Val di Noto and Catania, both World Heritage sites.

COST £2800 members, £2850 non-members, no single room supplement, £250 deposit, includes flights London-Catania-London, seven nights accommodation in a private chateau for exclusive use of INSCAPE, all breakfasts, all dinners with wine, one wine tasting, all lectures, all entrance fees, all private minibus travel during the tour, all gratuities, VAT.

*The vineyard/hotel Feudi Del Pisciotto, a beautifully restored 18th century farm house, surrounded by acres of grape vines, is reserved for our exclusive use, with a ten room limit. This tour sold out quickly in 2014, please book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
